Services for International Students

The OISS is a home away from home for international students and provides a wide array of immigration services in addition to the services for students whose native language is other than English (ESOL - English for Speakers of Other Languages). The office manages and oversees the Student and Exchange Visitor Information Service (SEVIS) of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Major international student services are outlined below.

Enrollment-related Services

  • Assist applicants abroad to get visas
  • Provide international travel and re-entry guides
  • Consultation for change of immigration status to F1 (COS), and reinstatement cases

  • Authorization of part-time status
  • Program extension

Employment Services

  • On-campus employment opportunity
  • Filing for application of Social Security Number
  • Authorization of Curricular Practical Training (CPT)
  • Filing for application of Optional Practical Training (OPT)
  • Coordinate Annual Presentation of the US Peace Corps Program

International Programs

  • International/ F1 Student Orientation in January and August
  • Co-curricular programs such as "Employment Interview in American Style' and Country Presentation on a semester basis
  • Hosting Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for ESOL/International Students in November
  • Planning Annual Field Trip for ESOL/International Student in May
