Athletic Branding Feedback
The Athletics Department, in partnership with the Department of Marketing & New Media, has secured an external consultant to support the reexamination of the College’s athletics brand and secondary marks. The purpose of the review is to consider recommendations that will increase athletics program brand awareness; better represent the mission of the College; and, enhance affinity with the athletics program and the College among students, faculty, staff, and the community at large.
In consideration of creating or enhancing the brand for the Onondaga Community College Athletics Department, research was conducted in areas such as regional history, school history, regional geography and animal species native to the Central New York area. Potential concepts were developed based on research conducted by the external consultant and input gained from a project work team that includes representatives from Enrollment Management & Student Development, Residence Life, the Foundation, and the Barnes & Noble Onondaga Bookstore, in addition to staff from Athletics and Marketing & New Media. Additional input has been solicited from athletics department coaches and staff and several focus groups with various student groups across campus. The next step is soliciting the input of the campus community and all campus constituents.
Below is a link to three preliminary concepts for athletic brands and identities the College is considering. We invite you to review the concepts and provide your feedback accordingly. The project work team will consider all input received and make a final recommendation for adoption and implementation in the 2013-2014 academic year.
Thank you in advance for your participation.
