Mission Statement The Educational Opportunity Program serves as a primary vehicle for increasing the academic excellence and retention of Central New York’s historically underserved students. We commit to providing timely access to academic, personal, and social support services assisting in the matriculation, retention and graduation of Onondaga Community College’s EOP students.
Each student is assigned an EOP counselor who facilitates support activities and monitors the student's overall progress.
Work with EOP coaches and tutors along with your peers for ideal study sessions and tutoring.
Provides intrusive academic support services for students including identifying specific learning styles, strengthening effective study skills, goal setting, organizational skills, test taking strategies, and time management skills with students experiencing difficulty academically.
EOP Students have access to a computer lab housed in the EOP office. Printing and copying are also available.
EOP recommends students attend two workshops per semester.
All EOP staff work closely with the transfer assistance office to ease the transition from to another college.
As an EOP student, you may be entitled to a small monetary stipend each semester.
Once the student is accepted to OCC and EOP, we invite them to attend the optional Summer Institute. Students receive six college credits, tutorial services, academic and personal counseling, books, public transportation, and lunch daily at no charge. The program runs for five weeks Monday-Thursday.
