Voter Registration (New York State)
Onondaga Community College seeks to ensure that the College community understands the importance of voting and that eligible community members have the opportunity to vote. To register in New York, you must:
- Be a U. S. citizen
- Be 18 years old by the date of the primary, general or other election
- Live at your present address at least 30 days before an election
- Not be in jail or on parole for a felony conviction and
- Not claim the right to vote elsewhere
New York State Voter Registration Forms are available from Student Central, Coulter Library (drop box for mailing as well), from most state agency offices, post offices, any county Board of Elections or on the Internet at: http://www.ongov.net/elections/voterRegistration.html .
Applications must be postmarked no later than August 17 for the Primary Election which will be held in September. Applications must be postmarked no later than October 12 to be eligible to vote in the General Election in November. You may register at your local board of elections or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act, on any business day throughout the year.
