If a student needs a temporary leave of absence (one week or less) due to a medical circumstance, an attempt to notify the student's instructors via electronic mail will be made after the student alerts the Office of Student Development. However, it is the student's ultimate responsibility to contact each instructor to obtain missed homework and assignments and to withdraw from any courses he/she will not be able to complete.
If a student needs to withdraw from the entire semester due to a medical circumstance, Student Development will attempt to notify the student's instructors via electronic mail. Student Development will notify Certification & Records and the instructors of the student's intent to withdraw only after documentation is received.
Students can apply for a medical leave of absence by completing a Medical Leave of Absence Application. Applications must be received by the Office of Student Development BEFORE the end of the semester.
If the semester has already ended or to withdraw from only a portion of courses in which enrolled, the student must complete a Petition to Waive the Academic Rule and submit it with supporting documentation to Student Central.
