What is a grant?
Grants are money awarded to help fund your education. Grants come from either the Federal or State government and are awarded based on your financial need.
What grants might I be able to get at OCC?
Federal Pell Grant
You will be considered automatically for Pell grant eligibility after you submit your FAFSA
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
You will be considered automatically for SEOG eligibility after you submit your FAFSA. Funding for this grant is limited, so file your FAFSA as early as possible each year.
Federal Work-Study (FWS)
The Federal Work-Study grant is an excellent way to earn money for your books, supplies, and personal expenses while attending college, as well as gain valuable work experience!
Am I eligible for work-study?
The Financial Aid office will consider you for a work-study award once we receive your FAFSA and confirm you are making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). If you do not receive work-study as part of your financial award, you can let the Financial Aid office know you are interested in being considered for a work-study award by completing the Federal Work-Study Interest Form.
How do I find a work-study job?
Purple Briefcase is OCC's online job portal where all available work-study positions are posted. Check Purple Briefcase frequently because new positions are added as needs arise on campus! Once you are ready to apply for work-study jobs, complete the Federal Work-Study Job Application and follow these instructions to upload the application on Purple Briefcase.
Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
